MANILA, Philippines — Fifty-nine percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., according to a December 2024 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

This is one percentage point down from the 60 percent result found by the pollster last September.

Results posted on Wednesday showed that dissatisfaction moved down by one percentage point from 24 percent in September to 23 percent in December.

Meanwhilepgasia, undecided Filipinos increased by two percentage points from 15 percent to 17 percent in the same period.

This meant that the Marcos administration’s net satisfaction rating was +36 in December, which is classified as “Good” by the SWS, the same rating it attained in September.

Respondents in Visayas had the highest satisfaction for the administration at 65 percent.

On the other hand, those in Mindanao had the highest dissatisfaction at 31 percent.

Apeco President and Chief Executive Officer Gil Taway IV said that construction for the “Apeco Grand Lagoon” inside the 13,000-hectare economic zone will begin in November.

In a disclosure on Friday, the Cebu-based conglomerate said VHHI signed a share sale and purchase agreement with its foreign partner to divest equity interest in their joint venture, Watermatic Philippines Corp. (WMP).

Prior results from the SWS showed that Marcos had a 51 percent satisfaction rating from Filipinos for his performance as president in December, which is a majority despite a 13-point dip from his score in September.

The House of Representatives and the Senate scored 58 and 62 percent, respectively, in another SWS survey on Filipinos’ satisfaction with Congress in December, likewise posting lower net satisfaction ratings compared to September but still maintaining majority support.

The survey on the administration was conducted from Dec. 12 to 18. It had 2,160 respondents nationwide in face-to-face interviews on how satisfied or dissatisfied they were with the Marcos administration.

It has a sampling margin of error of ±2 in national percentage points, ±3 in Balance Luzon, and ±5 each for Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

Performance on issues

The survey results also showed the Marcos administration scored “very good” on net satisfaction ratings in terms of five activities and programs:

Helping victims of disasters – +65 in December 2024 (Up by 3 points from +62 in September 2024) Improving the quality of children’s education – +60 in December 2024 (Unchanged since September 2024) Helping the poor – +57 in December 2024 (Up by 6 points from +51 in September 2024) Creating policies which will generate job opportunities – +51 in December 2024 (Up by 7 points from +44 in September 2024) Developing science and technology – +51 in December 2024 (Up by 4 points from +47 in September 2024)

The administration received a “good” net satisfaction rating on seven issues:

Implementing housing programs for the poor – +49 Ensuring food security – +46 Ensuring an efficient public transportation system – +45 Being prepared for strong typhoons – +44 Preparing for problems being caused by climate change – +38 Telling the truth – +34 Defending the PH sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea – +32

“Notably, the public’s net satisfaction ratings toward almost all of these activities (referring to those that scored “good”) increased compared to the ratings recorded in September,” SWS explained in a statement.

However, the Marcos administration ranked poorly in “fighting inflation,” posting a -12 net satisfaction rating.

The government was found “moderate” on “ensuring that no family will ever be hungry and have nothing to eat,” with a +26 net satisfaction rating.

Meanwhile, the administration scored “neutral” net satisfaction rating on the following issues in the survey:
